4 Ways To Brighten Someone’s Day

It’s always nice when you are having a good day, right? I’ve found that whatever mood I’m in seems to be reflected in other people around me as well. I’m not saying I’m special or anything, but I’ve seen it happen over and over again. Positivity is infectious, even more so than the flu. Choosing to be positive or negative is an easy decision, and it’s one you often make without thinking. You kinda ‘let it happen’ however it rolls. You take a very reactive approach to your day. I think we should all take a proactive approach to our day… I’m proposing to you that you purposefully make the choice to be positive.

At first you may think that I’ve lost my mind… but I challenge you to try it. You don’t even have to start in the morning. Right now. This moment. Drop everything that the day has dished you that you’re holding onto right now. Close your eyes and visually see yourself drop the baggage. Now picture the sun on your face and it makes you smile. Take a deeeeep breathe and let it go slowly. Now, shine on.

1 Handout Compliments Freely

This is one of my favorite things to do. We all love to hear compliments. I’m often dishing them out… to perfect strangers too!

“Ooh, I love those kicks”
“You’re hair looks so pretty”
“You’re looking snazzy today”

Just like the old book How Full Is Your Bucket, whenever you deliver a compliment you both get drops in your respective buckets. It’s amazing how light and happy it will make you too.

2 Repeat After Me

If I had a nickel for everytime I’ve asked, “Can you fix it? Is there anything you can do to change the outcome? No? Then… let it go. Don’t give it any more of your energy.”

Let me explain…
– Did you get cutoff on the freeway? Can’t fix it?… Let it go.
– Was the drive-through gal an ass this morning? Can’t fix it? Let it go.
– Boss being impossible? Can you fix it? No? Let it go.

I could go on and on… my point is that if YOU cannot control or change it, then let it go. I often times will say a quick prayer for that person and then just let it go. I won’t spend any more energy on it ‘cuz it will just drag me down. Ain’t nobody got no time for that! HAHA

3 Smile

Seriously, for Pete’s sake… just smile. You’re face will also thank you. Remember, it makes more lines to frown. It takes more muscles to frown. So peeps, turn it upside down! Smiling just makes you and everyone around you happy. 🙂

4 Eat Smart

You are what you eat. It is absolutely true. Eat a healthy meal and your body will respond. Your body is your machine. The fuel that you choose to put in your machine will determine how well your machine runs. It’s really simple when you think about it that way. If you’re pouring crap into the tank, then it’s gonna run like crap.
